Behind the Brief

Fantastical is a short film directed by Stephanie Alton. It chronicles the drag and queer culture and environments in Tennessee. Within the short film, the audience becomes acquainted with a group of drag performers who unpack questions about sexuality, gender expression, and performance.

After meeting with the producers, I was tasked with creating a vibrant and glamorous title card for the short film Fantastical.

I wanted to make a dazzling and glowing Neon title sequence that tied snugly with the spectacle of drag performances and outfits. It all resulted in a glowing skinny sanserif type glowing with orange, vibrant light.

During the revision stage, the producers asked for the flickering of certain letter forms to show that it was indicative of nightlife and the dance scene.
